"Every man is a damn fool for at least five minutes every day; wisdom consists in not exceeding the limit." Elbert Hubbard

And so it begins...

Well here we are. My attempt to organize what wanders through my mind and put it down in words. Bear with me please, my writing skills are rusty and self taught. I'm also very computer illiterate (I yell at the damn thing when I don't get the results I expected).

Here you will read about the life of a damn fool. It centers around books and my love of reading, but that's not all. There's also the kitchen and my search for a way to adapt my culinary skills to the fact that I'm diabetic. That's all? No. I live by the ocean and can't see myself living anywhere else. You'll read about that too. There will be other subjects for discussion, but I don't want to limit myself by listing them. You will just have to come back for more.

Who am I? A damn fool for starters, but that's part of being all too human and fallible. Hell, I'm not sure who I am sometimes. I can say with confidence that I am the following things: a veteran, an amatuer chef and baker, a bibliophile, a snobbish lover of classic films, and the companion of cats.

Yeah sure, that's nice but who wants to read about all that crap and you? Well, that's up to you. I will do my best to hopefully provide enough interest that folks might actually come back once in awhile.

I'm off to start my day. Hope yours is good.

  1. Hi Old Sarge, I don't know if you remember me but we met on LT. I live down the street (Rt 9) in West Creek, actually Cedar Run. We corresponded on LT a bit. I just wanted to welcome you to blogging. I started this year myself. It is enjoyable . I put my book reviews on there and other items of interest. I love to find a good ,interesting blog that has some relevant information on it, whether it is to do with books or crafts or cooking or animals, any of those will pique my interest. Don't be afraid that you won't interest others. Do something that you would find interesting and I bet it will be interesting to others as well. Just click on the icon that is on your blog site now from me joining (its the face of one of my dogs) and it will bring you to my blog. You will have to sign in to follow my blog which just means you will be able to click on it and view it and comment if you want.Well good luck and most important, enjoy yourself! Mary Beth
